Yukon Artic Ultra
|
Whitehorse, Yukon
|
|
The Yukon Arctic Ultra will follow the Yukon Quest trail, the trail of the world's toughest Sled Dog Race.
The marathon finishes on Rivendell Farm just off the Takhini River. The 100 mile racers will go from Whitehorse to Braeburn. The 300 mile racers will keep on going all the way to Pelly Farm. There they will leave the river to turn around and go back to Pelly Crossing on the farm road. The 430 mile athletes will not return to Pelly Crossing. Instead they will continue on the Quest trail to Dawson City. Our 430 mile race only takes place every two years, next time in 2015.
The trail will be marked. However, if there is fresh snow or a lot of wind it will be difficult to find the trail. If you want to enhance your ability to understand your orientation, we recommend you use a GPS. You will find necessary co-ordinates and more information on the race course in the "Trail Description".

The 2014 Winterman Marathon, Marathon Relays, Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km, and 3Km will take place on Sunday February 16, 2014, at the Canadian War Museum. The War Museum provides a stunning backdrop to this prestigious annual event - Canada's winter marathon. Winterman is being held during Canada's winter festival - Winterlude - and it is an official Winterlude event.
The War Museum is located at 1 Vimy Place in the heart of Ottawa and the National Capital Region, on the shores of the Ottawa River. The run course, an out and back loop of 5 kilometres, follows the Ottawa River, and provides a great view of the city's stunning skyline on the return run.
You can choose from the 3Km, 5Km, 10Km, Half Marathon, and Marathon distances. You may decide to run solo at any of these races distances, or you can choose to participate in one of the Marathon Relay categories. All finishers will receive a finish medal, a souvenir shirt, a performance certificate, an official time, and a National Capital Region Winterlude experience.
We invite you to come to Ottawa, on the weekend of February 15-16, to participate in, or watch, the 5th annual Winterman Marathon, Marathon Relays, and associated races, as well as to enjoy the other Winterlude activities - visit canadascapital.gc.ca for more details!
