What is Gopher Attack? It is the Western Canada International Marathon. It is the first event in the Saskatchewan Timex Road Race Series. It is the first in the series of three key Saskatchewan marathons.
As the Marathon Matters committee prepared for the 2013 Gopher last March, the cold, snowy winter motivated us to prepare for the worst and expect the best. As it turned out, the cold, blustery morning provided good running surface and everything proceeded smoothly with the help of our wonderful team of volunteers. But the early spring date forced a slower average pace and no course records were broken. Yet there was no shortage of Boston qualified finishers.
We are confident that the accumulated experience from the seven years will assure the best ever Gopher Attack on 18 April 2014. The Gopher will remain the event that provides the participants with perks of a major marathon at a cost well below the average.

Picturesque Full and Half Marathon courses wind through rural Mennonite country. The courses are certified by the Athletics Canada/IAAF/USATF, and is a Boston Marathon Qualifier.
